I am usually encouraging when I write or speak, and I prefer looking at the possibilities rather than life’s obstacles and hardships. That enables me to move through the difficulties and challenges I encounter with relative ease. I know that life is and can be difficult, but there is also a lot of joy, possibilities, and freedom that comes with being free internally and choosing what to focus on.
And I am optimistic not only about things in my own life but also about the larger matters of existence. I have faith in humanity’s ability to go through the process of evolution we are in right now as we move from the old to a new state of consciousness. We have the opportunity to go through this shift collectively, evolve as a species and make this shift a reality in our physical world.
I trust in our ability to evolve and create new awakened ways of living, even in our external world. I have seen that it is possible in my own life. But, of course, that is on a micro level; on a macro level, it takes more collective effort. But I know it is possible.
At the same time, we can’t get there only by optimism or focusing on the positive, possibility, love, and light. We must also look at what is not all that bright in our lives.
Facing reality
So, let’s face a harsher reality for a moment.
I am going to be a bit straightforward here. And it is all out of love.
This process is not called evolution for no reason. It is not a change that will happen by doing five minutes of meditation a day (sorry), focusing on positive affirmations, or attending a retreat here and there.
Of course, that is often better than no meditation, affirmations, or retreats. They are an excellent way to start the journey and great tools on our way. But then, if those five minutes a day, or the retreats or affirmations, are to turn into twenty-four hours a day of living in a new state of consciousness, many more changes need to be made. Period.
So, I love when we talk about possibilities, encourage each other, and focus on new options, the light, the new state, peace, and harmony. But to get to the point when we live here, we must look at all areas of our lives. So it is not enough to have spirituality as a practice, look at the bright side of things, or change our lifestyle into something that appears more spiritual on the outside.
We must also see what is not all that bright and not for the highest good, not only in our external environment, such as our societies, but also within ourselves and our personal lives. That is where it all begins.
We must be relentlessly willing to look at ourselves, our thoughts, emotions, reactions, and behaviors without excusing, explaining, or diminishing them in any way.
We need to be willing to see what we have not seen and become aware of our part in what is happening in our lives and societies. That is a crucial part of the evolution process and the first step toward change.
We can only create awake societies if we are awake
As the title states, we can only create new awake societies if we are awake. So, if we are not, it doesn’t matter if we call what we are working toward a new earth, a new spiritual paradigm, or if we use some other lovely concept to describe it.
The universe doesn’t care about what appears spiritual or what words we use. Instead, the universe cares about humanity’s evolution from the old to the new state of consciousness.
The universe wants us to awaken, or more accurately stated, it wants to awaken through us, as us.
How do I know that? I know it in myself.
And for that to occur, we need to free ourselves, leave the old state behind, and start anew from a new level of understanding, a new state of being.
So, we can wear all the spiritual clothes we want, read all the books, and preach all the concepts and teachings without embodying and living what we read or preach. It is ultimately not about what we say or do but the state of consciousness from which it is all coming.
So, there is a difference between being spiritual and awake. But, of course, a person who is into spirituality and is seen as a spiritual person can be awake. But the terms, the way I use them here, are not synonymous; they are not referring to the same thing. One is a person into spirituality, and the other is someone living the awakened state.
So, what matters is if we live in the new state, and are awake in all areas of our lives. That means from our inner state to how we are in our closest relationships, in all encounters with all people we meet, everywhere, at all times.
And if not, we need to be open to looking at where and why we are not and ask ourselves what is in the way. The answers are there if we are willing to listen. But it is not a quick fix; it requires a lot of inner and outer work and a relentless willingness to see the truth.
The truth will set us free. Behind those truths are freedom, the joy of being, and the end of suffering. There, we find the enormous relief of not having to carry around the past anymore, the relief of being free to live and act in new unconditioned ways, and the ability to see a new reality and be part of creating a new world for ourselves and others.
But for that to happen, an old version of ourselves has to fall away as we give birth to a new one. And collectively, our old systems have to fall away to be replaced by something new (without violence on our part).
That is how we create the new paradigm.
