I am passionate about the awakening process, and if you have read my story, you know that I have dedicated my life to this shift in consciousness. Not only on the inside but also in my external life. The journey has been life-changing, and I am not the person I was 16 years ago when my journey began.
One thing I can tell you about that journey is that it has not been the way it often looks in the pictures used in the spiritual genre; the sunsets, the beaches, and the peaceful meditations.
So, if you’re in emotional pain right now or life isn’t going your way, it’s probably not because you’re doing anything wrong.
I love the quiet and peaceful moments. And I love the pictures too. I can get such a good feeling from looking at them. I also post them myself sometimes.
But spirituality and the awakening process are not only about those moments of our lives.
Sometimes, the journey is painful and scary, and we can feel as if we have no ground under our feet – because we are breaking with our old reality. It can take a while before we become accustomed to our new circumstances or before something new appears.
My spiritual journey has been rocky, challenging, sometimes terrifying, and different from what I thought it would be. Calm and peaceful are not words I would use to describe the process I have gone through.
Cleaning out my old identity, with its layers of beliefs, old internal wounds, cultural perceptions, and ways of seeing the world, has not been a peaceful experience.
Going back and looking at my past, breaking with my old ways of being, and starting to act differently has been difficult at times.
But inner peace comes with doing that. And that peace is also there beyond it all, even when things begin to fall apart.
My journey has also included joy, love, and healing I never thought was possible to experience. And I have nature and meditation to thank for many peaceful moments.
So, the spiritual journey involves all kinds of experiences and is not always calm and peaceful. But it brings peace: freedom from suffering, the relief of letting go of the past, and the joy of being.
