“If you learn to accept and even welcome the endings in your life, you may find that the feeling of emptiness that initially felt uncomfortable turns into a sense of inner spaciousness that is deeply peaceful.”
-Eckhart Tolle
Sometimes, we need to make space in our lives for something new to arise.
And sometimes, if don’t make that space ourselves, life has a tendency to step in and do it for us.
I have experienced many endings on my awakening journey and many new beginnings.
It is part of the awakening to experience both endings and new beginnings.
After the endings, there is often a period of uncertainty before something new emerges – a period where we are in between the old and the new.
Those are periods where we are in the unknown.
Being in that space of uncertainty can be uncomfortable, and sometimes, we may want to rush toward something new.
But if what ended was meaningful, we may need some time by ourselves before we are ready to move forward.
If we trust and honor that space in between, we give ourselves time to process and let go of what has been. We also give ourselves time to reconnect with ourselves and where we are right now, time to just be.
And if we allow the feelings of emptiness or uncertainty to take us deeper into the present moment, we can reconnect with the peace that is always here even if we are not always aware of it.
We can find that inner stillness even in the midst of difficulty.
When we honor that space, we also make room for something new to emerge.
It will emerge sooner or later. It always does, even if it doesn’t feel that way when we are in between.
When we surrender to that space of not knowing, we open ourselves to new perspectives, insights, and possibilities.
And we can let in the new that wants to enter our lives.
